Community

Community and citizenship are intertwined with the history and lifeblood of The Langdale Company.

“It was good that we passed this way.”

We want others to be able to say, “It was good that we passed this way,” as Judge Harley Langdale noted in a message to employees nearly half a century ago. When you strive for others to recognize this, then fairness, integrity and quality are not just goals. They are a way of life.

Community and citizenship are so intertwined with the history and lifeblood of The Langdale Company that acting on behalf of the business is nearly indistinguishable from acting on behalf of the community. Over the past century, members of the Langdale family have served in public, civic, higher education, religious and industry leadership. That tradition has long since extended deep into the company and affiliate companies, with employees serving their communities across a broad range of organizations.

Community Activities

The Langdale Company engages its communities at three levels: employee, affiliate company and parent company.

In keeping with autonomy of affiliate companies and the independence of our employees, they each make contributions of their respective time, talent and treasure as they see fit in their communities. As a company, Langdale has supported specific organizations consistently over the years, including the American Red Cross, United Way, Project Learning Tree, Drug’s Don’t Work, civic clubs such as Rotary and Kiwanis, Boys and Girls Club, Lowndes County Partnership for Health Board, South Georgia Medical Center, The Children’s Advocacy Center of Lowndes County, Inc., Valdosta State University – Harley Langdale, Jr. College of Business Administration, and Wiregrass Georgia Technical College.

Leaders in The Langdale Company have over the past century served in public office, led industry associations, and generally engaged public issues. And perhaps the strongest, most consistent priority for The Langdale Company in its support of the community has been, and continues to be, the creation of jobs.

The Harley Langdale, Jr. Foundation
